Govindacharya mocks Narendra Modi on Ode,Sanjay Joshi

Former BJP ideologue says Guj govt decision to seeking death penalty for convicts of Ode smacks of 'political opportunism'.

Former BJP ideologue K N Govindacharya on Tuesday said the Gujarat government’s decision to move high court seeking death penalty for 27 convicts of the Ode massacre sentenced to life imprisonment smacked of “political opportunism”.

Talking to mediapersons,Govindacharya said he was not targeting Chief Minister Narendra Modi, but the Gujarat government move was not possible without the CM’s consent. It will have serious political implications,he said.

On former BJP general secretary Sanjay Joshi’s ouster from party national executive allegedly after pressure from Modi,Govindacharya said,“That one approach of Modi negates his candidature for the prime minister’s post. Such a step is not expected from a person aspiring for the PM post.”

Govindacharya said the least repair Modi could do was to publicly express regret for his approach towards Joshi.

Govindacharya was addressing a press conference in connection with future plans of Rashtriya Swabhiman Andolan founded by him. He said there was political stagnation in the country and the BJP had failed in the role of the Opposition.

He said the BJP was ineffective on the issue of corruption and the party was doing politics of arguments instead of morality.
