
GANDHINAGAR, AUG 16: Former Gujarat chief minister Shankarsinh Vaghela and Nishaben Choudhary, wife of former chief minister Amarsinh Choudhary, (both Congress) figured prominent amongst the 57 nominations that were filed on the fifth day today in State for the September 5 Lok Sabha elections to the 26 Parliamentary constituencies.
Vaghela will contest from Kapadwanj constituency and Nishaben from Sabarkantha constituency.
The total number of nominations filed in Gujarat since August 11 has gone up to 98. Until August 14, a total of 41 nominations had been filed.
Vaghela had won the Kapadwanj seat for the first time as a Janata Party nominee in 1977, but lost it as a BJP candidate in 1980. Then he represented the Gandhinagar (1989) and Godhra constituency (1991) in the Lok Sabha. In 1996, he lost the Godhra seat by a slender margin.
