AHMEDABAD, June 29:The Mehsana District Cooperative Bank has moved Gujarat High Court challenging the state government notification postponing election to cooperatives and agriculture produce market committees APMCs. Justice H.L. Gokhale has fixed the hearing for July 3.
Earlier, elections to all the cooperatives and APMCs were scheduled for June 28, 1998. But the state government has postponed them to September 30, saying that officials and employees of the administration are engaged in relief operations in cyclone-hit areas of the Saurashtra and Kutch regions.
