INDORE, JAN 9: The government is considering to ban `F’ (Fashion) channel and a decision in this regard would be taken soon, Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Ramesh Bais today said.

“Soon after Sushma Swaraj took the reins of the Information and Broadcasting Ministry, a meeting to ban the fashion channel was held”, Bais said while talking to reporters after participating in the foundation stone laying ceremony of a public library in the Indore Press Club premises.

The decision will be implemented soon, he said.

In China, they have a satellite system that emits only those signals which the country’s government thinks is good for society, the Minister said adding “our country must think on those lines”.

On the issue of Ranganathan Committee Report recommending closure of various I and B units like Directorate of Audio Visual Publicity (DAVP), he said “if the committee’s report is implemented then the whole I and B ministry will have to be closed down”.

Bais also denied that the news bureau of All india Radio, Indore, was closed as part of the panel’s report and added that the news bureau would start functioning soon.

AIR news bureau here was shifted to Raipur following the creation of the Chhattisgarh state on November 1 last.
