
Ethiopia bombs Eritrea
ADDIS ABABA: Ethiopia warplanes bombed Eritrea8217;s capital for a second straight day today with the target again appearing to be the civilian and military airports, witnesses said. It is not clear what targets had been struck or if there were any casualties.
Ethiopia and Eritrea traded bombing raids on each other8217;s territory yesterday with each accusing the other of escalating a violent border conflict into an aerial war.
Pak explosions
HYDERABAD Pak: Three separate bomb blasts in the Pakistani city of Hyderabad killed at least one person and wounded 10 today. One person was killed and four wounded when a bomb exploded in a vegetable market. Two subsequent blasts in separate areas of the city, in Sindh province, wounded another six people. Police said the first explosive was thrown on a footpath, killing a pedestrian and seriously wounding another.
German train toll
ESCHEDE Germany: Three more bodies were pulled out of the wreckageof the high-speed train crash here today, taking the death toll to 101 in Germany8217;s worst train disaster since World War II, emergency services said. A spokesman said rescue workers did not believe any more bodies were left in the mangled remains of the train, which crashed here on Wednesday. The rescue operation was now over and a team of experts was due to begin combing the site for clues.
