VHP vice president Acharya Giriraj Kishore continues to bait the BJP despite an order from the high command to remain silent on the saffron party’s leadership issue. While Kishore went public two days ago, endorsing RSS leader K.S. Sudarshan’s view on the ageing BJP leaders, this time he has called on all Hindutva sympathisers in the BJP to come out and join the ‘‘Hindu Front’’, which is being actively pursued by the Sangh Parivar.

Speaking on the telephone from Bhopal, Kishore says, ‘‘The BJP is now clearly a part of the NDA, so we want to form a Hindu Front, like the ‘Secular Front’ and the ‘Third Front.’ Obviously, the BJP as part of the NDA cannot be part of this front, so, all those within the BJP, who claim to be Hindutva sympathisers can join this front.’’

By saying so, Kishore is once again endorsing Sudershan’s criticism of the BJP leadership for not pushing the Hindutva agenda. In the same television interview, Sudarshan had also slammed A.B. Vajpayee for his refusal to hand over the land in Ayodhya to the Ramjanambhoomi Nyas Trust.

Kishore, however, says though the BJP has lost its Hindutva moorings, there was no need to launch another political party to replace it. ‘‘Last year, there were suggestions to form a Hindu Front but it did not materialise,’’ he says, ‘‘but talks have begun again and the process is on. I cannot reveal the entire details, till it is formed.’’

Once again stressing on the need to save Hinduism, Kishore says, ‘‘It is time to make Hindus a respectable race, as Hinduism is being attacked in every political forum.’’ He says he cannot reveal the names of BJP leaders who will join the front, as yet. Sudarshan had particularly picked out Modi, Vasundhara Raje Scindia, Sushma Swaraj and Uma Bharati for praise.
