Gibbs arrested for drunk driving

South African opening batsman Herschelle Gibbs was arrested in the early hours this morning for drink-driving in Cape Town, reports said today.

Police spokesman Superintendent Billy Jones confirmed a 34-year-old man had been arrested at 1:45 am near Cape Town8217;s seafront, but said 8220;we are not at liberty to implicate people by name until they have appeared in a court of law.8221;

Jones said the man, reported as being Gibbs, was pulled over for speeding. 8220;A breath-analyser test was conducted and the man detained at the Sea Point Police station,8221; he said. Gibbs was released on 500 rand 62 bail, and would appear in Cape Town magistrates8217; court on June 27.
