
VADODARA, July 15: The Gujarat Electricity Board GEB has deployed 500 workers to accelerate restorations in Jamnagar district, even as it succeeded in restoring power supply to 13,251 villages, out of the 13,580 villages affected due to cyclone, on Wednesday.
According to an official spokesman, Member Administration S K Nanda and Member Technical K K Vaghela were closely monitoring restorations in the areas where the power supply was yet to be restored.
The Board had suffered a loss of Rs 461 crore as its transmission towers, high tension lines and power stations were affected following the cyclone.
The spokesman said the Board had restored 12,040 kms high-tension lines, 9,334 kms low-tension lines, 4,920 transformers, 2,84,226 single phase low-tension service connections, 38,763 three phase low-tension service connections, 56,989 electricity poles and 3,205 feeders out of a total number of 3,262 feeders.
