PUNE, Nov 9: Congress corporator Vishwas Gajarmal and other office-bearers from Ajanthanagar in Akurdi today denied allegations that the names of a section of residents in the slums had been deliberately deleted from the list of beneficiaries of the proposed rehabilitation project.

The office-bearers instead charged that those who had made the allegations had included the names of outsiders in the list. Gajarmal released the names of four outsiders whose names figured in the list of the beneficiaries.Gajarmal added that nearly 95 per cent of the residents in Ajanthanagar were in favour of going ahead with the project which would give them better civic amenities. The project, to be taken up by the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC), is expected to incur an expenditure of Rs 12 crore. Tenements will be provided to the displaced. slum-dwellers as a part of the project.
