MUMBAI, July 29: Four players - Chandrakant Reddy, Nitin Warde, Pravin Bhatkar and Vatsalya Saxena - share the lead after four rounds in the A group in the Entrants Division Chess Tournament conducted by the Bombay Chess Association at the Zandu Pharmaceutical Canteen. In Group B, three rounds have been gone through.On the top board of Group A, Reddy destroyed Nitin Watwe's Alapin Variation in response to the former's Sicilian defence with a win in just 24 moves. Omkar Dole of Ajmera School made a positional blunder on the fifth move while playing the Four Knights against Warde who immediately seized the opportunity and trapped Dole's knight and won in 40 moves.Bhatkar won in 33 moves against Amit Kakkar in a Queen's Gambit Game. on the fourth board, Anil Arora lost from a position where he and his opponent, Saxena had oppositive coloured bishops and equal number of pawns. Arora had offered a draw offer but Saxena refused and won after 62 moves.Aditya Bhat of NM College, manish Shinde, MangeshHegishete and Shamkumar Varma are in the second spot with 3.5 points each.In Group B, sixth seed Parag Tewardkar of Navi Mumbai School who handled the French Defence from the white side, won in 49 move against Shailesh Surve. The most remarkable victory was that by a fourth standrad student of St. Joseph's School, Malad, Vishal Shah who won in just nine move against his confused senior opponent Sachin Shinde.Rizvi enter final: Rizvi College defeated Tolani College 5-3 via the tie-breaker, after the two were locked 2-2 at the end of the regulation time in the semi-finals of the Inter-Junior Collegiate football tournament, organised by the Government Sports Department, at the St Francis D'Assisi ground, Borivli. The scorers for Rizvi in the tie-breaker were: Pravin Janz, Brian Santosh and Joel Fernandes. Darmesh Mehta scored for Tolani.
