
5,010 houses, 8.64 lakh forms sold, 3,12000 applications submitted Rs 8.64 crore generated just through the sale of forms
The mad rush for the DDA Housing Scheme 8217;08 finally came to an end on Tuesday as people all over the Capital made a dash to submit their forms in the eleventh hour. While the DDA8217;s housing schemes have always been well received, the last one in 2006 received 1.9 lakh forms for 3,000 houses. However, the scheme this year has seen overwhelming interest in a sliding real estate market.
8220;I know the odds of my name coming up in a draw are unlikely, but I had to try. Where else can you get a house for Rs 14 to 15 lakh these days?8221; asked Anuj Salwah, who was racing against the deadline to ensure his form is submitted.
The DDA is yet to tally the number of forms submitted, but many applicants said they had trouble filling up forms as instructions were unclear and hence they had to buy them again. Vijay Goyal, chief manager of SBI, said,8221;Nearly 600 loans for the DDA scheme have been provided from INA branch. Almost 8000 people came forward to submit their forms here.8221;
Subhash Chandra Srivastava, Chief Manager, Central Bank of India, said,8221; Around 700 loans for DDA housing scheme have been provided to people from INA branch and around 5000 forms were submitted here.8221;
