NEW DELHI, MARCH 19: A week after 11 men and a woman posing as Central Bureau of Investigation CBI officers looted a Pitampura house, the Crime Branch says it has managed to arrest five of them. They have been identified as Vijay Porter, Kewal Kishan Rana, Balwant Singh alias Bittoo, Dara Singh and Vinod Kumar Gupta, all residents of the trans-Yamuna area.

On the morning of March 12, 11 men and a woman posing as CBI officers spent more than an hour in businessman S.P. Rastogi8217;s house before leaving with Rs 25,000 and jewellery worth Rs 1.25 lakh. This was the second such incident in the area. On January 7, four men posing as Delhi Police officials robbed Rs 60 lakh from a bullion agent8217;s house in Pitampura.

On March 12, Rastogi 52 left for work as usual. He deals in air-conditioning equipment with outlets in Pitampura and Daryaganj. Minutes later, two Maruti cars 8212; one red and another maroon 8212; a scooter and an autorickshaw stopped near the gate to his house.

Rastogi8217;s daughter Chetna says the group most of them clad in jeans and T-shirts flashed identity cards and claimed to be from the 8220;special staff of the CBI8221;.

8220;The woman, who was around 25 years old, seemed to be the boss. She claimed the CBI had some information about my father8217;s business deals and the team wanted to search our house,8221; says Chetna, who is married and was visiting her parents at the time.

The group then ordered Chetna to summon all the occupants of the house to the living room. 8220;When I hesitated, some of them started searching the other rooms. They forced my brother, mother and the domestic help to join me in the living room. Then they went to our tenant8217;s house upstairs and brought their daughter and domestic help to the room,8221; she adds.

Chetna says she and her brother Tarun had second thoughts about the group8217;s credentials after they asked her mother to give an inventory of the goods in the house. Next, some of the men allegedly pinned her down along with her brother. They then took her mother inside and forced her to hand over the cupboard keys. They allegedly removed 25 tolas of gold and Rs 25,000 from the locker.
