Force India driver Giancarlo Fisichella crashed at high speed on Day Two of the Silverstone test session today, cutting short the testing of new aerodynamic upgrades in the car. Fisichella was uninjured in the accident, but was taken to hospital for precautionary checks, a Force India press release said. Amid high, gusty winds, the Italian couln’t control the car at Becketts, one of the fastest corners of the circuit, and rammed into the barriers. His VJM01 suffered extensive damage and could not be repaired in time. His lap of 1m 21.58s was, however, the 10th best as McLaren’s Heikki Kovalainen set the pace with a timing of 1m 20.15s.
