
NAGPUR, JANUARY 14: The Jaripatka police claimed to have busted a racket engaged in facilitating admission of XI and XII standard students to local colleges against fake marklists and transfer certificates. Four operatives were arrested along with five student-beneficiaries, which includes three girls.
An offence of cheating, forgery, use of forged documents as genuine ones and conspiracy to cheat has been registered against the arrested suspects.
On January 4, the principal of PWS College along Kamptee Road, Rajaram Wankhede, reported to the Jaripatka police that at least 16 students of Standard XI and XII were suspected to have secured admission to their college against bogus marklists and transfer certificates.
In the ensuing probe, the police picked up five of the suspected students, Prafulla Kewaldas Meshram 18 of Ashok Nagar, Pranay Naikar Nagdive 21, Varsha Vinayak Raut 19 of Motibag railway quarters, Meera Manbod Lillhare 21 of Thaore colony and Roshni Devanand Walke 18 of Indora.
During interrogations, these students gave the names of four youths from whom they had procured the fake documents. They were Shekhar Narendra Mate, Raju Budhaji Tembhurne, Sandesh Narayan Burbute and Prakash Raghunath Badge.
While Mate and Tembhurne were arrested on January 6, Burbute and Badge were held the following day and their police custody remand was obtained from the court till January 12. The four have confessed to have effected several such admissions against hefty sums. The police seized blank TCs and marklists of local institutions like Tidke High School and Jawahar Night School from Mate. A stack of bogus marklists was also seized from Badge, who owns a printing press.
The five students held for the offence are currently placed under judicial custody.
