GWALIOR, Nov 11: Indian skipper Sachin Tendulkar praised the 8220;exceptionally brilliant batting display8221; of Saurav Ganguly and Robin Singh for providing India with an exciting win to go 2-1 up in the series. 8220;Their partnership put us in a position from where we were able to fight back and defend the total,8221; Tendulkar said after the match.

The Indian skipper conceded it was not easy to score runs freely in the morning as there was some movement and bounce off the wicket. 8220;The last five or six overs proved good for us. A total of 261 was a decent one and Kumble, Chopra, Ganguly and Agarkar bowled well. Some good catches by Mohanty and the brilliant run out by Agarkar helped us,8221; he added.

He was happy that the team did a good job in a tight situation. 8220;Even the batsmen at the centre Ganguly and Robin would not have expected that the total would mount form 185 in the 45th over to 261 at the end of 50 overs. Although the Kiwis bowled a disciplined line, the two batsmen played exceptionaly well,8221; Tendulkar once again said about the Indian innings in the later stages.

8220;We are happy to go 2-1 up in the scries and would like to continue the confidence and good work for the rest of the series,8221; Tendulkar added.
