Ex-Miss Jammu held for acting in porn films

Former Miss Jammu 2001, Anara Gupta — an alleged victim of sexual exploitation — has been charged by the police with the production of pornographic movies.

But Gupta’s counsel dispute the charge saying that when these films were made, she was a minor. And the fact is substantiated from her matriculation certificate issued by JKBSE which states her date of birth as August 29, 1986. This means that Gupta turned 18 two months ago.

Though SSP (Jammu) Kamal Saini says that Gupta had been willingly acting in these movies, legal experts point out that her consent had no value in view of her being a minor then. Police booked Gupta under sections 292 (sale of obscene objects) and 293 (punishment for sale of obscene objects) of Ranbir Penal Code (RPC). But experts point out police should have arrested those actually selling porn CDs in the market.
