Eight parties to form front in Bihar

In the first realignment of forces ahead of the Assembly elections in Bihar, an eight-party front, including the Samajwadi Party and the CPI, was today formed to take on the ruling RJD-Congress alliance and the main Opposition NDA in the upcoming electoral battle.

The front comprises the CPI(ML), Samajwadi Party, Samata Party, Krantikari Samyawadi Party, Samajwadi Janata Party, Rashtriya Lok Dal, Shoshit Samaj Dal and Bhartiya Momin Front.

Announcing the formation of the front here, CPI(ML) central committee member Krishnadeo Yadav said the front would contest around 200 of the 243 Assembly seats going to poll in three phases in February. Replying to a question, leaders of these parties said the front may include Ram Vilas Paswan’s LJP and JD(U) provided they snapped their ties with the Congress and BJP respectively.
