CALCUTTA, FEBRUARY 26: East Bengal shrugged off a second half lethargy in the nick of time to script a 3-1 victory over BSF in the Fourth National Football League on Saturday.

Just when it looked like the contest would end in a 1-1 draw, the local outfit struck twice in quick succession in the dying minutes of the proceedings to swing the game in their favour much to the delight of their supporters at the Salt Lake Stadium.

Striker Sheik Sanjib put the beleaguered East Bengal in the lead just one minute before the interval but a determined BSF restored parity in the 36th minute of the second session through substitute DS Negi who found the target with a header.

The local giants then changed the complexion of the game in the dramatic last two minutes with Jackson and Dipankar Roy scoring the goals in quick succession to save the day for the home team.

East Bengal, who struggled to find peak form in the earlier stages of the league, have secured 23 points from 17 matches while BSF have managed just nine points from as many outings so far.
