With the Government trying to push important business, speculation is rife about an early end to the current Winter session of Parliament. The session, already short by a fortnight, is otherwise scheduled to conclude on December 7. The “official” argument being given is the ongoing election campaign in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh. The speculation gained currency after the Government came up with the AIIMS (Amendment) Bill, 2007 in the Rajya Sabha though it was not listed in the original business slated for the day. The Lok Sabha is already through with important business, including the nuclear deal debate. The Business Advisory Council of the House has resolved to take up the debate on price-rise on December 3. The most important outstanding business for the Upper House is the discussion on the nuclear deal. The debate is likely to take place on December 3.
