SEVILLE (SPAIN), AUG 20: Dutch sprinter Troy Douglas’ positive test to Nandrolone continues a rash of positive tests for the steroid and further tarnished the World Championships due to start here from Saturday.
The International Amateur Athletic Federation’s medical commission chief Arne Ljungqvist said the Dutch federation had confirmed Douglas’ positive test.
“It was judged as clearly a positive case,” Ljungqvistsaid. “He’s definitely not coming (to Seville).”
The 36-year-old 200-metre sprinter is the latest athlete implicated in drug use following a series of high-profile cases and there is speculation of more to follow.
Douglas, who was born in Bermuda, was banned from the European Championships last year for misconduct following an unsuccessful appeal to officials for the 200m bronze medal.
He was reportedly thrown off the Dutch team after the adverse test and did not travel to Seville.
