Dempo began their campaign in style and defeated Salgaocar 3-0 in the lung opener of the first ONGC I-League at Nehru Stadium here today.Playing with three forwards, Dempo went on the offensive from the start and had the match under their control throughout with Ranti Martins and Edeh Chidi giving the rival defenders a harrowing time. Chidi scored twice, while Martins completed the tally. Chidi had a chance to get a hattrick, but failed to score from close. Dempo’s defender Mahesh Gawli got the man-of-the-match award.
