HP Drug Manufacturers Association has offered to set up the institute and run industry-oriented coursesFaced with the shortage of technically qualified manpower across the state, Himachal Pradesh Drug Manufacturers Association today urged the government to set up a pharma technical Institute at the industrial township of Baddi.This will facilitate thousands of Himachali youth to meet the heavy demand for technically qualified manpower in pharma industries of the state. A delegation of the Himachal Drug Manufacturers Association met Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal in this regard. The delegation was led by its chairman Sanjay Guleria.The delegation requested the government to seek permission for setting up an institute in the industrial belt. The association’s members told the chief minister that at the institute, the association can start short-term technical courses in various disciplines, to meet the demand for skilled workers in the pharma industries.The members of the association suggested that these courses can be run free for the trainees. The other expenses will also be borne by the association.Members suggested that short-term courses can be run for the matriculate and science graduates of the state. After completion of training in pharma-specific trades, their placements will be ensured in the industry.Talking to mediapersons, Sanjay Guleria said that appreciating the idea of the association, the chief minister directed the Special Secretary-cum-Director Technical Education SS Guleria, to convene a meeting with the association members for further working out of possibilities of the institute. Confirming the proposal, SS Guleria said that initially,The association has offered to set up the institute at a convention hall which is lying unused in the township. For this too, the approval of the government has been sought. Sanjay Guleria said that the machinery needed to set up the institute will be provided by the association on self-sustainable basis.
