As the day draws down and the muezzin8217;s azan resonates, the crowd in its devout grandeur gathers in various locales breaking the fast among the scrumptious delicacies and in the most tempting atmosphere. Peer into the inner lanes of the city, where the waft of tasty foods and lip-smacking delicacies await. Be it roasted chicken, seekh kebabs or malpoaa, every dish would definitely get your taste buds dancing. The holy month of Ramzan signifies supplication, upholds charity and inquests delicacies.

The Babajaan chowk, Sharbatwala chowk, the Poona college vicinity and Mominpura are some of the prime areas of hustle and bustle during the month of Ramzan. People from across the city assemble not only to relish but also vend their wares.

As one walks into the lanes of Mominpura, a queue of food-vendors is ready to take you for a treat. The counter of Rahil Caterers, one of the oldest eatery in the area, you surely cannot resist your temptation to eat. 8220;For Ramzan we have a special stall and menu, the buzz starts at around 5 pm and we are open till 2 am. The most popular dishes are chicken tandoori, chicken cutlet, kadi ghosht, chicken dum biryani and most important the various kebabs. Dalcha khana is our speciality. My grandfather first started it here. We are into this business since the last 30 years,8221; says Shaik Ali Abdul Karim, the owner of Rahil Caterers, as he unremittingly takes the orders.

Drinks and shakes also form one of the hors d8217;oeuvre, with strawberry and chocolate flavoured milkshakes, falooda and so on. Tahura Cold Drinks is one of many stalls that sell the most novel Hyderabadi cold drink. 8220;It is a popular drink during Ramzan. A lot of youngsters come here. It has been there for the last 15 years,8221; says Shaikh Azhar.

Mohammad Shafiq sells samosas on Kasbapeth throughout the year however during Ramzan the stall shifts its location as well as the content. 8220;I sell dates during Ramzan. I have ten different varieties from Iran, Saudi, Medina, Arab and so on. The price varies from Rs 50 8211; Rs 250 per kg,8221; adds Shafiq.

The dusk also calls out the family members to assemble to proffer prayers and indulge into the cuisine that the women have been cooking through the day. Anjum Shaikh, HR, Fortune Placement, is joined by 10 other kin during the Iftaar. 8220;The white cloth-dastarkhan is spread on which we have the grand dinner. Dates are a must while we break the fast, which are at times replaced by salt. There are two to three delicacies every day in addition to the main course. Starters have to be kebabs, potato wedges or any fried stuff. Biryani follows and the most preferred desserts are malpoaa, sheera and sevai. We may stuff ourselves throughout the night but the day begins with nothing more than a cup of tea and toast or plain coconut water,8221; adds Shaikh.
