Man burns wife
A 26-year-old woman was reportedly set on fire by her husband in the Delhi Cantonment area in south-west Delhi yesterday. Meera Devi sustained 95 percent burns and has been admitted to the Safdarjung hospital. Her chances of survival are reportedly bleak.

Her husband who received 20 percent burns has also been admitted to the hospital. He reportedly received burn injuries when the victim embraced him even as she was engulfed in flames.

“Babu Lal was an alcholic and would frequently pick up a fight with his wife and beat her up. The main reason for the bickering was because they had no children and the accused blamed his wife for all his problems,” said the duty-officer at the Cantonment police station.
