Bus runs over five
Five persons were killed when a private bus (DLP 6242) rammed them at Bibipor Mor near Ujina village on Monday morning.The police said the driver of the bus apparently lost control of the vehicle after the brakes of the bus failed and it smashed into the persons sitting by the roadside.

The deceased have been identified as Sugri of Sahchokha village, Jaan Mohammad of Bisambra, Aslam, Shakil and Asgar of Jaisinghpur. Unconfirmed reports said that at least five persons have also been injured in the accident. Meanwhile, angry villagers kept the Nuh-Ujina road blocked for more than an hour.

Woman sets self on fire
A 23-year-old woman, Reeta, reportedly set herself aflame in her Sagarpur house on Monday afternoon. Her two-year-old son was sleeping in the house at the time of the incident. When the police reached the spot, they found the door locked from inside with the charred body lying inside. An SDM is conducting an enquiry into the incident.

Man commits suicide
A 23-year-old man, Harmendra, committed suicide by hanging himself in his Dev Nagar residence on Monday. He was reportedly suffering from depression for the last three months. ON Monday he went to his room after taking tea at 10 am. The police found the room locked from inside with Harmendra hanging from the fan. The Prasad Nagar police is investigating the case.

Six dacoits arrested
The north-west district police have arrested six dacoits who were planning to commit a dacoity in the Wazirpur Industrial Area. The gang had earlier been involved in armed dacoity at Gokulpuri, Dilshad Garden and Seemapuri.

Twenty Three-year-old Raj Kumar alias Raju was found in possession of a knife. Interrogation revealed that he along with his five associates were to assemble around 8 pm at Khojawala Bagh to rob a Wazirpur factory. His five associates have been arrested by the Ashok Vihar police. The persons arrested include 25-year-old Surya alias Muzahid, 24-year-old Narender Singh alias Ashish, 25-year-old Virender Kumar alias Suresh and 25-year-old Jagan. A revolver and four knives were recovered from the accused.Interrogation revealed that they were to rob the cashier of the factory at gun-point. All the accused have been arrested under the Arms Act.

41-yr-old stabs kin
/The Sarai Rohilla police has registered a case of attempted murder against a 41-year-old man for stabbing his stepbrother Mahesh on Saturday night. The brawl began when Ram Das wanted to install a wooden ladder on Mahesh’s side of the house to which the latter objected. Ram Das is reportedly absconding.

Four robberies in city
Four robberies occurred in different parts of the city today. An employee of a petrol pump on Rani Jhansi road in the Paharganj area was on his way to the bank in the area to deposit the daily revenue of the pump in the morning. He was accosted by two youths who, at knife point robbed him off Rs 2.85 lakhs and then fled the area. A case of robbery has been registered at Paharganj police station.

In New Friends colony a woman named Krishna Kant was robbed of a sum of Rs 8,000 by two youths.

In Bhajanpura, the robbery occurred at a glassware shop. Krishan Aggarwal, the proprietor was in his shop when three youths entered and threatened him with a knife around 1.50 p.m. They forced him to part with Rs 8000, a watch and a ring. A case of robbery has been registered with Bhajanpura police station.

In the last incident in Pritampura, a gang of four people forced their way into a house in the Vaishali area around 4.30 p.m. They threatened the family of three-an elderly couple and their adult daughter with knives and forced them to part with Rs. 7000 in cash and some jewellery. They then fled the area. A case has been registered in Shalimar Bagh police station.

Man stabbed to death
A 24-year-old man, Sunil alias Raja, was stabbed to death allegedly by a resident of Feroze Gandhi Colony here on Sunday.

According to the police, Sunil, a TV mechanic, allegedly had an affair with a woman named Suman. Bhim Singh, the owner of the house where Suman lived, objected to their relationship. On Sunday evening when Sunil went to Suman’s place, a clash took place between Sunil and Bhim Singh. Later Bhim Singh allegedly stabbed him with a sharp-edged weapon.

Sunil’s brother, Anil Kumar, was informed later in the evening about the incident. Meanwhile, Sunil had been admitted to the Aryan hospital.According to Anil, when he went to the hospital a woman, later identified as Suman, was sitting besides his brother’s dead body. The victim’s brother said in a statement that his brother had stab injuries on the stomach, neck, hips and left thigh.

Though the police have arrest Suman, the main accused in the case, Bhim Singh, is absconding.
