
Pregnant woman sets herself ablaze
A 23-year-old pregnant woman set herself afire on Monday night in her RZ-56 Mehrauli house. She has suffered about 90 per cent burns and has been admitted to the Safadarjung Hopistal. Doctors believe her chances of survival are slim. Her husband, who reportedly tried to save her, has suffered minor burns on his hands. According to the police, she was reportedly upset over the fact that her husband did not have the dinner she had cooked for him. Her husband Ganesh who works as a security guard has been discharged from hospital after treatment. Anjali was about four months pregnant.
Shopkeeper allegedly rapes minor
A seven-yera-old girl was allegedly raped by her neighbour on Monday morning in the Civil Lines area of north district. A resident of Majnu ka Tila, she was reportedly lured by Ram Chander to his shop in the DDA market around 8.30 am. With shutters down, he allegedly raped her inside the premises. The victim told her mother about the incident when she returned home. Medical examination of the victim confirmed rape. The shop-keeper Ram Chander has been arrested.
Man killed at mandir
A man was killed at Sita Ram Baba Mandir in Mandir Marg in New Delhi area on Sunday night. A fight ensued between Baba Jam Giri and Baba Ram Das when the former did not allow the latter to enter the temple premises. Ram Das reportedly beat up both Baba Jam Giri and his disciple Gurdayal Singh on Sunday night when the two were sleeping outside the temple. Both of them were reportedly found early next morning by a TSR driver who had come to the temple. They were rushed to the RML hospital where Gurdayal was declared dead. . 2 held for power theft
The Najafgarh police have arrested two persons, Hoshiar Singh and Suresh Kumar, residents of Deenpur, on charge of electricity theft on Monday afternoon. DVB staff conducted raids at six places in the Dinpur area and found illegal tapping of electricity. The other four are yet to be arrested.
Liquor haul in East Sagarpur
A large quantity of country and Indian-made foreign liquor was recovered from a hideout in East Sagarpur, Dabri, early this morning. A woman, Shakuntala, has been arrested. Around 7,200 quarters of IMFL and 4,600 pouches of country liquor were recovered from a godown in the area. The value of the seized liquor is estimated to be Rs 2.6 lakh. The police said that the liquor was to be supplied to JJ clusters during dry days.
Fire at factory
There was a fire at a factory in Anand Parbat on Tuesday night. Ten fire tenders were rushed to 4/46 Anand Parbat to bring the fire under control. No injuries or damage has been reported. Meanwhile, a chemical drum caught fire in a house in Chindpur village, near Alipur. The fire was extinguished almost immediately, with no damages being reported.
One arrested for satta
A team of the social defence wing arrested Dinesh Kumar, a resident of Karampura, on charge of gambling on Monday. Around Rs 3,500 as stake money for lottery satta has been recovered from his possession.
2 shot at in Nandnagri
Two youths were shot at in Nandnagri area around 10 p.m. on Tuesday night by a relative Dharmendra Kumar. The injured have been rushed to the G.T.B Hospital. Both of them were sitting outside their house when the accused reportedly opened fire. The police have registered a case and are on the look-out for Dharmendra Kumar, who fled the spot. The motive of the crime has not been ascertained as yet.
Body found
An unidentified body of a man was recovered from a Janakpuri park around 6.30 a.m. on Tuesday. The man, about 45-year-old, had been strangulated using his own belt.The motive of crime is not known yet.
