PANCHKULA, Sept 6: Punjab National Bank XI beat CITCO XI by 35 runs in the rain-intervened match of the Inter-Bank/Government Organisations cricket tournament, being organised by the LIC Employees Cricket Club here today.

Chasing PNB8217;s 155 for 5 in the allotted 25 overs, CITCO XI faltered despite allrounder Daniel Bannerjee8217;s defiant unbeaten 50. Daniel watched from the other end as his teammates were found short on the will to win. M S Rana 22 and Narinder Kwatra 20 were the ones who kept Daniel company for a while but it was not enough. For PNB, Parveen 4 for 26 and Ashok 3 for 24 did the trick.

Scores: PNB: 155 for 5 Subodh Bisht 44, Rajiv Khanduja 30, Anil Sharma 26, Harinder Sandhu 22; Rajiv 3-27, Narinder Kwatra 2-24 beat CITCO: 120 Daniel Bannerjee 50 n.o., M S Rana 22, Narinder Kwatra 20; Parveen 4-26, Ashok 3-24.

Athletic trials
Amateur Athletic Association of Chandigarh will hold selection trials tomorrowat DAV College at 3.30 p.m to select the state team for the Senior Inter-State National Athletic Championship to be held in Lucknow from September 12 to 14.
