NEW DELHI, JULY 28: International Cricket Council (ICC) president Jagmohan Dalmiya has favoured revival of the Sahara Cup cricket tournament between India and Pakistan in Toronto.

“Once the conflict is over and after all not everything between the two countries has been cut… Diplomatic links are there, communication links are there, other channels are there why only cricket should not be played?” he asked.

“Why should everyone say that cricket should be stopped. I think people are using cricket for their personal fame,” Dalmiya said.

He, however, said the decision to continue the series is a matter between the two boards.

The fourth edition scheduled for September was cancelled after sponsor Sahara India pulled out. A Toronto-based Pakistani business house, DBS group, had offered to step in for Sahara India to sponsor the series.

“I think Sahara went out of turn and said the event is cancelled. Probably Sahara was talking beyond its ambit,” Dalmiya added.
