DEVIGARH Patiala, Feb 4: Punjab Finance Minister Capt Kanwaljit Singh today said that a comprehensive plan would be formulated for the overall development of Dakala Assembly constituency and funds would be kept apart for the purpose in the next budget.
Addressing a meeting of Akali Dal workers in preparation of the tercentenary celebrations of the birth of Khalsa, he said he was aware of the perennial flood problem in the area and a permanent solution to this problem would also be found.
Kanwaljit Singh said the Akali Dal government had already conveyed to the Prime Minister that the hike in the price of urea was not justified and the government must revise its decision.
Peace and communal harmony were the top priorities of the state government and these would be maintained at all costs, he said, adding that the government was committed to accelerating the pace of development in the state.
He underlined the need for unity in the Akali Dal and said that factionalism would only help the Congress, which had been playing up non-issues to cover up its failures. Charanjit Singh Walia, a former MP and general secretary of the Akali Dal, said that some sarpanches of the area had complained to him that they were being threatened that grants to their panchayats would be stopped. He asserted that no such threats would work and cautioned that certain forces were out to weaken the party.
Prominent among others who addressed the meeting included Jasdev Singh Sandhu, chairman of the Subordinate Services Selection Board.
