PUNE, November 25: A State Transport bus driver was killed and 16 passengers injured, four of them critically, when a gang of dacoits struck at least four vehicles near Dudhani village in Osmanabad district on Sunday evening. The assailants looted valuables worth over Rs 2.25 lakh from the vehicles, reports said here today.
About 15 to 20 youths intercepted the ST bus, two trucks and a Maruti car at Mulud-Dudhani junction. Bus driver Suryabhan Molawane was beaten up and succumbed before receiving medical aid.
The town of Bhum observed a bandh today in protest against the incidents and demanded that the culprits be immediately arrested.
