This city has to be the social capital of India. Every week, there is some launch, fashion show or beauty contest. And all these glamorous events take a lot of planning and hard work, which is why, event management has become a popular career choice today. As far as the really big events go, like the Filmfare Awards, Screen-Videocon Awards, Miss India and Gladrags contests, there is one duo that seemed to have cornered that share of the market. Rajju Chandiramani and Nishita Patwardhan, set up On Cue Productions, a couple of years ago, and they have leant their expertise in the planning and handling of many major events that take place, both here and abroad. Both Nishita and Rajju began as assistants to choreographer Lubna Adams. Nishita is trained in fashion design from Sophiya’s and enjoyed working with Lubna so much, that she decided to take up stage management as a full time career. And when Nishita left, Rajju filled in for Nishita, helping out Lubna with all her shows. "Whenever I had too muchwork, I would call Rajju to help me out," says Nishita. Slowly, the two found they were working together all the time and so decided to join forces and set up their own company. Having done the production for beauty contests (the duo helped with the Miss World pageant held in Seychelles four years ago), fashion shows (they worked with almost every top designer from Wendell Rodericks to Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla), and even for theatre, they began to feel that their work had become too limited.

And even though they have stepped into fashion chorography, chorographers have not stopped using them for back-stage production. Model-turned- choreographer Achla Sachdev uses On Cue Productions for all her fashion shows. Says Achla, "They are very ethical and I am happy that they do my work well, so why should I have a problem with them moving into chorography?" On Cue Productions presently has a staff of six and the duo are getting so many events to handle, that for smaller shows, they delegate a lot of work to their assistants. "But we really enjoy doing a wide variety of work. The theatre work is great fun and destressing as theatre events are a piece of cake compared to fashion shows," says Nishita. Though fashion will always be their main stay. Says Rajju, "We really enjoy working in the fashion industry as the people are really friendly and genuine. The fashion industry is nothing like what it is depicted to be, it is actually full of really nice people, from the models to thedesigners."
