Condemning the attack on an Israeli diplomat’s wife yesterday,Home Minister P Chidambaram has said that a ”very well-trained” bomber has committed this attack.
The Home Minister also said India was ‘not pointing a finger’ at any particular group or organisation at the moment.
Strongly critical of the offensive, which he termed as a terror attack,Chidambaram said India has assured Israel it would investigate the matter till the perpetrators were caught.
”We have friendly relations with Israel like we are friendly with other countries. Every country can live and work here,in peace and security,” Chidambaram said. Israel has openly blamed Iran of masterminding a coordinated attack on Israeli diplomatic installations.
Chidambaram confirmed a single person,on a motorcycle, perpetrated the attack. ”A very well-trained bomber has committed this attack. We have reason to believe that the target was the Israeli diplomat’s wife. The explosion happened within seconds after the device was attached to the Innova car,” he said Tuesday.
The Home Minister said footage from closed-circuit cameras have not thrown up any clues — either an image of the attacker or that of the number plate of the motorcycle he drove in.
Meanwhile, doctors at the Primus Hospital where the injured Israeli woman Tal Yehoshua-Koren is admitted have said she is on her way to recovery but will suffer from some residual paralysis. A splinter was removed from her spine last night.
