
Murder by acid
The Varachha police have registered a case of murder against Bechar Bhagwan Kakadia, a resident of Mini Bazaar, Varachha after he allegedly threw acid on the face, head, and body of his brother-in-law Shantilal Bhoda, who died early on Wednesday morning of burn injuries. The police said that Shantilal had scolded Bechar after he had beaten up his wife Shantilal8217;s sister earlier, and Bechar threw the acid in anger.
Knocked down
An unidentified 40-year-old man was fatally knocked down by a ST bus GJ 1 Z 1828 opposite the railway station on Wednesday morning. Jayendra Jagannath Trivedi, the bus driver, surrendered before the Mahidharpura police saying that the unidentified man died under the front wheel of his bus at around 7 am today morning. He has been booked under sections of the IPC and MVA.
Liquor haul
Indravardhan Lalbhai Champaneria, a resident of Vakil Street, Shahpore was arrested by the PCB on Wednesday with 117 bottles of Indian Made Foreign Liquor. A PCB release on Wednesday afternoon said that a number of premium brands including Saturday Night, President, Old Royal Stag, worth Rs 26,000 were recovered from Champaneria8217;s possession, who has been booked under sections of the Prohibition Act.
Woman missing
Vidya Nana Patil, 19, a married woman residing at Madanpura area of Limbayat, is missing since August 15, the police were informed on Wednesday. Nana Jagannath Patil told the police that his wife was last seen wearing a coffee-coloured sari on the morning of August 15. A case has been registered in the Limbayat police station.
Burns death
Shardaben Shankar Shirke, 22, a resident of Triloknagar Society, Ved Road, died in the Maskati hospital of the city during the early hours of Tuesday of severe burns. A case registered under CrPC 174 in the Chowk Bazaar police station said that the woman was cooking on a kerosene stove on Monday morning when it exploded.
