
Man stabbed in bus robbery
A resident of Rohini was robbed inside a moving bus plying between ISBT and Uttam Nagar and later stabbed when he caught hold of one of the assailants. Two youths entered the bus near Madhuban chowk and robbed executive engineer Rishi Kumar of Rs 3,400.
He felt that someone had picked his pocket. He then saw two youths get down from the bus in a hurry. Rishi reportedly got down and managed to catch hold of one of the youths Virender. The accused whipped out a knife and stabbed Rishi on his chest and stomach and fled the spot.
`Abduction’ case solved
An `abduction’ case registered at the Sriniwaspuri police station last night was solved today when the police discovered that the `abducted’ person was in fact picked up by the Sarai Rohela police station for interrogations related to his friend’s sudden disappearance with a girl.
“Shivraj was today released by the police authorities and was sent home”, a police official assured. Shivraj Singh Nayal, a driver by profession, was last night believed to have been `abducted’ by five men, two of whom were apparently sporting police uniforms. Since the family was not told why Nayal was being arrested, they made enquiries with the local police, which pleaded ignorance in the matter and registered a case of abduction.
Man escapes murder bid
A Sarita Vihar property dealer, Mohammad Umardin, reportedly escaped a murder attempt by a person he had kidnapped last year. Umardin, his wife and child were coming back from a client’s house on Wednesday night when they were allegedly attacked by Asif and his associates Mushahid, Abbas and Ashiq Chaudhary. Asif apparently fired at them with a country-made pistol. Umardin and his family sustained bullet injuries. Asif has been arrested. Umardin reportedly had a property dispute with Asif last year and had kidnapped the latter and his wife from Okhla village. He was later arrested on this charge.
5 held for rioting
The police on Wednesday arrested five persons, including residents and shopkeepers of Tokriwalanfor rioting. The police say that late on Tuesday a man was hit by a truck , and though he escaped unhurt, residents blamed the shopkeepers as one of their trucks was involved in the incident.
