As the five-day Indian Police Service IPS Vertical Interaction Programme concluded on Saturday at Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow, IPS officers from various parts of the state discussed 8220;Indian Police8221; as a brand.

Sandipan Deb, editor of The Financial Express, addressed the gathering on Saturday. While Deb advised officers on some finer points of media management; officers in turn suggested ways to make the media sensitive to the problems of the police.

An officer asked Deb, 8220;We police are in the business of saving three things that are dear to everyone. Please suggest how can we project ourselves in a better light? To which, he was asked to follow 8220;incident management8221; and 8220;individual management8221;, while communicating with the media. 8220;Unless it is a matter of national security, you should give away as many facts as you can to the media. Otherwise, there are chances of garbled stuff being published,8221; said Deb.
