CHANDIGARH, Nov 30: More than 260 students from schools, colleges and professional colleges participated in the poster making competition on AIDS Awareness Campaign organised by the Government College of Art and State AIDS Control Society on the eve of World AIDS Day today.

In the school-level competition, the first position was bagged by Rajat Bhandari of Bhavan Vidyalya, Sector 27, while second and third places were claimed by Amaneet Kaur and Monika Angrish. The consolation prizes were given to Jaswinder Singh and Deepika Verma.

In college level, Kavita Singh of Guru Gobind Singh College for Women, Sector 26 got the first prize. Second and third positions were bagged by Neelam Kumari of GCG, Sector 42 and Gangeeta Mohan of MCM, respectively. Manpreet Sidhu and Simerpreet got the consolation prizes.

In the professional colleges group, Garu Singh of GCA got the first prize, Monisha Yadav of Department of Fine Arts, Panjab University, and Monika Sharma of GCA bagged second and third prizes, respectively. Aditi Sangwan and Nishi Chanana were given consolation prizes.

The winners will be given prizes by UT Administrator B.K.N. Chhibber at World AIDS Day function at Government College for Boys, Sector 11, tomorrow.The NSS unit of Sri Guru Gobind Singh College, Sector 26, also organised an AIDS awareness programme in which about 300 students took part.

Meanwhile, an AIDS awareness camp was organised in Khuda Alisher by the Servants of The People Society, Lajpat Rai Bhawan, Sector 15-B. Dr N.M. Sharma, assistant director, National AIDS Control Organisation, coordinated the medical check-up by a team of specialists from PGI.
