Cong needs old, new workers: Rahul

This did strike a cord with the old party workers, who had earlier expressed their unhappiness over Gandhi concentrating more on the younger generation and making them functionaries by ignoring the workers of his father8217;s regime.

After speaking at Jagdishpur, Gandhi addressed around 250 young workers selected by him. Later, he addressed both the groups jointly.

8220;He told us that both the old and the young teams are important for the party. Thus, both should work together for the Lok Sabha elections,8221; said a senior party worker. 8220;He also told us to take the message of development works undertaken by the UPA government till the grassroots level,8221; he added.

According to sources, during the meetings, Gandhi was informed that closure of several projects was affecting the image of the Congress in the area. He was also told that lack of co-ordination between the Central and the state government has also led to various problems.

Later, Gandhi visited two schools and met party workers from several Gram Sabhas. On Friday, he will participate in the meeting of the district level central vigilance committee in Sultanpur district.
