The political star trek refuses to end. After Moushumi Chatterjee, the Congress is keen on Bengali actress Moon Moon Sen and Telugu star Nagma. Talks with the actresses are reportedly at an ‘‘advanced stage’’.

Moon Moon Sen, if she agrees, may be fielded from Tripura as she is married to a descendant of the state’s erstwhile royal family. Nagma, whom the BJP was eyeing, met Sonia Gandhi at 10 Janpath last evening. She is keen on a Lok Sabha ticket but the party would rather have her for a Assembly seat.

The party has already announced that Bollywood star Govinda is likely to contest from Mumbai (North) and Nafisa Ali, Calcutta (South).

If the BJP attracted a host of retired armymen in the early 1990s, the Congress is scanning sky and sea for eligible candidates. Former chief of naval staff Vishnu Bhagwat is set to fight a seat in Mumbai while former chief of air staff A.Y. Tipnis may be fielded from Maharashtra or even Chhattisgarh, a Congress leader said.

A bigger catch may turn out to be ex-Chief Election Commissioner M.S. Gill. He, the Congress claims, is in the running for a seat in Punjab.
