Haryana Director General of Police O P Singh and his wife on Sunday came to the rescue of an accident victim when they found him lying on the road and rushed him to hospital in Panchkula.

Singh and his wife were going towards Yamunanagar when the latter told him that there appears to be an accident on the other side of the road near ITBP Bhanu, Sector 26, as crowd had gathered.

When the vehicle was turned, they saw that in a collision between a car and scooter on the opposite side of the road, the scooter rider had got seriously injured and was lying. The vehicles had collided on the other side of the road.

Immediately, the DGP ordered his escort to get the accident victim evacuated. They rushed him to Sector 6 civil hospital, Panchkula.

While speaking to The Indian Express, DGP O P Singh said, “Whenever any accident happens, I have noticed people are ready to help. It’s just that they don’t know what to do and fear that the police may question them or trouble them. Many usually blame that people aren’t helping. However, it’s the other way. They just don’t know what to do.”

The DGP also ordered the police staff across the state that in case of any accident, not to question or trouble any such good Samaritans who are helping and rushing the victims for help.

“Everybody should help accident victim to hospital as soon as they notice. Moreover, sometimes an accident victim passes away on the road in shock so to keep that golden hour, it is important that water or first aid be given till the ambulance arrives,” he added.
