Four days after he made known his decision to quit the party, Congress today expelled former Karnataka CM and strongman S. Bangarappa and his son Kumar Bangarappa for 8216;8216;anti-party8217;8217; activities.
Describing it as 8216;8216;stern action8217;8217; taken at the high command8217;s direction, KPCC president B. Janardhan Poojary told reporters it was a 8216;8216;punishment we are giving him for indiscipline8217;8217; and accused Bangarappa of being a 8216;8216;party hopper8217;8217; and an 8216;8216;opportunist8217;8217;.
The expulsion of father-son duo for six years came a day after Bangarappa formally resigned from the party and gave ample indications of gravitating towards BJP. It came on the day his actor-turned-politician son Kumar Bangarappa resigned from the S.M. Krishna government and the party following his father.
Poojary said the Congress would 8216;8216;expose8217;8217; Bangarappa and slammed the BJP for 8216;8216;embracing8217;8217; Bangarappa whom it had described as the 8216;8216;most corrupt CM in the country8217;8217;. The KPCC chief said it was 8216;8216;sheer height of arrogance8217;8217; on the part of Bangarappa to talk of 8216;8216;finishing the Congress8217;8217;. 8216;8216;The BJP has cast a big net and he is caught,8217;8217; he said.
