Facing flak for inducting former CEC M S Gill in the Union Council of Ministers on account of propriety, the Congress on Tuesday sought to take the battle to the opposition camp pointing out that the BJP had also brought former Comptroller & Auditor General of India T N Chaturvedi in the Rajya Sabha.

“The BJP has no right to talk about it,” AICC spokesperson Manish Tewari said. “What is constitutionally correct cannot be morally wrong. The Congress has the tradition of bringing eminent people to the Rajya Sabha. We brought Ranganath Mishra, former Chief Justice of India, to the Rajya Sabha. Unlike the BJP, which denudes institutions, we try to enhance the stature of institutions by bringing eminent people to serve in them,” added Tewari.
