A 22-Year-old college student committed suicide by hanging herself from a ceiling fan in Dabri area of Southwest Delhi on Friday morning.
According to the police, the deceased, identified as Dipti Singh, was suffering from depression as a result of academic pressure. A suicide note was recovered from her possession, which mentioned that she was not happy with her life and her loneliness persuaded her to take the extreme step. Dipti was a third year student of BA English Honours at Ram Lal Anand College.
Police officers said they received a call from the victim8217;s father, Dr Vijender Singh, a paediatrician posted at the Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, at 10 am. During interrogation, the victim8217;s father reported that his daughter went to her room to study on Thursday night after having dinner with the family. Next morning, when Dipti did not come out of the room after repeated calls, her family broke open the door to discover her body. The victim8217;s body was later sent to Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital for postmortem. The victim8217;s mother works as head nurse at the Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital.
