CHANDIGARH, March 6: A bright sunshine greeted north-west region today after three days of snow and rain, which left 26 people dead in Himachal Pradesh and the Jammu area in landslides and house collapses.Sixteen people died in landslides in Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh, ten were buried alive in a house collapse in the Jammu region.Meanwhile, the higher reaches in Lahaul-Spiti and Kinnaur districts and the Dhauladhar ranges, overlooking the Kangra Valley, in Himachal Pradesh had fresh snowfall last night. Some parts in Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and Haryana also had rain during the past 24 hours.Reports of rain came in from Bhuntar, Kullu, Dharamsala, Shimla, Sundernagar, Nadaun and Sujanpur tira in Himachal Pradesh. In the plains, Ludhiana, Patiala, Nangal Dam, Ambala, Hisar and Rohtak also reported rain during this period. The city and its surrounding areas also had rain during the past 24 hours.
