Explosion in Bombay Dyeing claims two

MUMBAI: Two workers were killed and three injured when a major fire broke out at Bombay Dyeing’s chemical plant at Patalganga in Raigad district. According to the State police Control a small explosion in the plant caused the fire. The dead victims were identified as Sunil Purangale (23) and Milind Gore (30). The fire which lasted for over half an hour was later put off with fire tenders which were rushed to the spot.

Mumbai police officers transferred

MUMBAI: The State Government today announced a minor reshuffle in the Mumbai police force following the transfer of some officers in the rank of Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP). S A Kakkar, DCP II Office General, Anti-Corruption Bureau has been transferred as the DCP, Narcotics Cell. DCP Port Zone, Madhu Shinde, has been transferred as the DCP Zone V. The post had been lying vacant following the transfer of T A Chavan two months ago. P B Gawandi DCP Local Arms( LA) III replaces Shinde as the DCP, Port Zone. P S Patankar, Sub-divisional officer Ratnagiri has been promoted as the DCP, LA III. According to police sources, two other DCP’s namely R T Rathod of Bhiwandi and Prakash Pawar of Pune Rural have also been transferred to Mumbai.
