Chennai Superstar romped into the final of the Indian Cricket League today, thrashing Kolkata Tigers by 93 runs here.
An all round show by Rajagopal Sathish, who scored 51 and then took two wickets in just two overs, helped the Superstars to tame the Tigers.
After scoring 167, Chennai Superstars bundled out Tigers for a paltry 74 in 15.3 overs to win comfortably. The Tigers were out of sorts from the start in their run chase, losing quick wickets. This was the lowest total recorded in the tournament so far. Only Abhishek Jhunjhunwala (18) and A S Jain (18) could make it to the double figures for the Kolkata team. Sathish was declared Man of the Match.
Former Pakistani medium-pacer Shabeer Ahmed started the collapse with the dismissal of Darren Maddy. D T Kumaran removed the other opener Deep Dasgupta (1) and then Sathish got into the act sending back Rajiv Kumar (8) leaving Tigers tottering at 31/3. With skipper Craig Macmillan (6) and Lance Klusener falling cheaply, the Tigers were reduced to 52/5,
Earlier, electing to bat, the Superstars after being six down in the 15th over were bailed out by Sathish. The-26-year-old right-handed all-rounder from Tamil Nadu struck a 24-ball 51. He hit three sixes and six boundaries. Tomorrow, Chandigarh Lions will meet Delhi Jets in the second semi-final.
