
New Delhi, SEPT 25: A city court on Saturday ordered framing of charges against Romesh Sharma, alleged frontman of Dubai-based underworld don Dawood Ibrahim, and six others in the Kunjum Budhiraj murder case in March this year.
Additional sessions judge L D Mallik in his 21-page order said that prima facie, there was sufficient evidence to frame charges against Sharma, his nephew Surinder Mishra, two girls claiming to be adopted by his sisters Tejinder Virdi alias Dolly and Jaspreet Virdi alias Sonu. The judges also named three alleged Uttar Pradesh gangsters Hemchand, Ramesh and Santram against whom charges would be framed.
The charges would be framed against the accused under sections 302 murder, 506 intimidation, 114 abetment and 120 B criminal conspiracy of the Indian Penal Code Indian Penal Code on September 29, the next date of hearing. Sharma8217;s 29-year old fashion designer friend was allegedly shot dead on March 20 by a group of hired gangsters from Uttar Pradesh atthe instance of Surinder when she went to Sharma8217;s Jai Mata Di farm house temple in South Delhi to offer puja there.
The city court said the facts and circumstances present in the case were sufficient to prima facie show that Sharma was an active participant in the conspiracy leading murder of Kunjum.
The city court said that Surinder and Dolly had met Sharma on March 19 and on the next day the former delivered the key of the farm house to Kunjum for going to the temple.
This was apparently done at the instance of Sharma who wanted Kunjum to go to the farm house, the court said adding 8220;the accused arranged the arrival of Kunjum at the farm house where the killers were already awaiting for her.8221;
Romesh Sharma the prime accused in the case has been in judicial custody since September last year and facing trial in as many 16 criminal cases including that of criminal intimidation, property grabbing and cheating.
