PM lays stone of oil refinery
Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee today laid the foundation stone of the Rs 16,000-crore oil refinery, the largest public sector project ever, and christened it after the 10th Sikh guru, Gobind Singh. The oil refinery, which will go on stream in 48 months and have a capacity of nine million tonnes per annum, is being set up by the Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited HPCL and the Punjab State Industrial Development Corporation PSIDC.

Russia asks Iraq to comply
International patience over defiant Iraqi President Saddam Hussain8217;s brinkmanship appeared to be burning out with Russia today joining the United States and Britain in signalling a military aggression. Cruise missile-firing B-52 bombers and radar smart F-117A Stealth fighters were among 139 US aircraft headed for the Gulf in addition to the 170 US aircraft already stationed in the region.
