India, Pak foreign secys hold talks
Indian Foreign Secretary K. Raghunath and his Pakistani counterpart Shamshad Ahmed today held detailed consultations to chalk out the modalities for the resumption of the stalled Indo-Pak dialogue, even as the Prime Ministers of the two countries met for the second day today to discuss measures to ease tensions, says a report from Colombo.

Obuchi is Japanese PM
Keizo Obuchi, who survived a bitter party infighting, today became Japan8217;s 54th Prime Minister taking on the task of reviving the world8217;s second-largest economy. Obuchi promised speedy action to live up to global demands that Japan take bold action to get Tokyo out of its worst recession.
