Manimajra shops to close on Sept 5
The Chandigarh Administration has ordered that all shops and commercial establishments in Manimajra would remain closed on September 5, instead of September 6, due to the Lok Sabha elections.
The Administration has also declared that all factories located in the Union Territory shall observe a weekly off on the first day of the week on September 5, instead of any weekly holiday proceeding or succeeding within three days of such declared weekly holiday. It said that no worker shall be required or allowed to work in any factory on that day in order to help him exercise his franchise.
Cultural evening
A cultural evening was organised in the Swami Ram Tirtha Cultural Centre here today. Student artists of the centre presented classical songs, dance drama and other folk items. Raj Kishen enthralled the audience with his classical vocal singing of Maru Bihag and bhajan. Deputy registrars of Prayag Sangit Samiti, Allahabad, O.P. Srivastava and H.K. Pathak were the guests of honour. President of Swami Ram Tirtha Memorial Society presided over the function.
