Chandhok at pole, sets lap record

He beat the year-long standing record for the fastest lap around the Zhuhai International Circuit set by Frenchman Christophe Bouchut by 0.63 seconds. Chandhok set a time of 1:30.033 in an extremely close session, where the top four Formula V6 Asia cars qualified within 0.6 of a second.

The top six line-up remains the same for both Super Sprint sessions with New Zealand driver Matt Halliday Team Meritus in second, Taiwanese Hanss Lin Team E-Rain in third, newcomer and China8217;s racing hero Marchy Lee Team Meritus, and Indonesian driver Ananda Mikola Eurasia Motorsport completing the top five.

For round 98217;s Super Sprint these drivers will be followed by Champ Motorsport8217;s Michael Ho Macau, last minute entrant American driver Tim Barber followed by Taiwanese Jeffrey Lee Champ Motorsport. The first 12-lap Super Sprint session round 9 will be held tomorrow morning, followed by the 20-lap Grand Race round 10.
